AB De Villiers retired from international cricket in 2018 continues to play franchise cricket and is a popular figure in India playing IPL for the Royal Challengers Banglore. Recently, The former SA captain has admitted that Cricket South Africa has approached him to come out of retirement and don the national jersey again.
The 36-year-old revealed the same while speaking on a Star Sports show named ‘Cricket Connected’. The former Wicket-keeper has also expressed his desire to return only if he is fit and competitive enough to make it in the Starting 11.

“The desire is there from my side to play for South Africa. I have been asked by Cricket South Africa to lead the Proteas again. The most important thing to me is that I have got to be in top form and I have got to be better than the player next to me. If I feel I deserve my spot in the side, it becomes much easier for me to feel that I should be part of the playing XI,” he said.
De Villiers isn’t sure about his when his next professional game will be due to the Corona pandemic. “However, with the virus going around, I don’t know what’s going to happen with the schedule,” he said.

Recently, AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli have decided to auction their cricketing gears. It includes the bats they scored centuries for Royal Challengers Bangalore during an IPL match in 2016. The money raised from the auction will be used for the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
