The second phase of the 14th edition of the Indain Premier League (IPL) is all set to commence from the third week of September 2021. The availability of foreign cricketers has also been confirmed now as mostly all the stalwarts will be taking part in the tournament. All the matches have been shifted from India to UAE. A few days back, there were rumors regarding a South African cricketer (probably AB de Villiers)playing in this IPL for the last time.
The rumored tweet read, “One of the greatest batsmen cricketing world had the pleasure to watch in the last two decades will pad up one last time in the remainder of IPL to be held in UAE.”
Following this, the fans started assuming the cricketer in question is none other than AB de Villiers. Even though there wasn’t any confirmation about the same, fans thought ABD will be taking part in the for the last time this year. However, this rumor has ended now as the man himself has opened about it.
During an Instagram live session, AB de Villiers hinted that there are many years yet to come for him in IPL. He stated, “Playing in the IPL, having broken one record or two, playing in front of the crowd, and realizing that my teammates are also in awe. At the IPL, for South Africa, it exceeded all expectations, and hopefully, there are few more years.”
The partnership of ABD and Virat at the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has been winning hearts for the last many years. Though the Bangalore-based franchise has never won the trophy so far, the cheer from the fans for these star players has never downgraded.
RCB is currently standing at 3rd place on the points table of IPL 2021. The bold army has secured five wins in 7 matches and is in a solid position this year. It would be exciting to see whether the team manages to reap rewards from the form they are in phase 2 of IPL 2021 as well.
