They say the form is temporary, the class is permanent. It doesn’t matter how much time a good player stays away from the field, he will perform when he steps on the cricket pitch. And former South African skipper AB de Villiers is the perfect testimony of the same.

After deciding to hang his boots from international cricket earlier this year, ABD has barely played any cricket since then. Yet, in the ongoing Mzansi Super League, he showed that no matter how long he is away from the sport, he will never lose his ability to leave the audience clueless with his shots.

Playing for Tshwane Spartans against Cape Town Blitz, ‘Mr 360’ justified his nickname, hitting an astonishing six with a switch hit. The spectators were left gasping for breath after watching his shot. He scored 59 off just 30 balls, but couldn’t take his side over the line. Batting first, Cape Town Blitz had managed to score 180/4 in their 20 overs. In reply, Tshwane Spartans fell short by 49 runs, despite the heroics of De Villiers.

Here is the vide of the shot:

Last month, ABD revealed his admiration for former Indian skipper MS Dhoni. He stated that Dhoni would be a permanent fixture in his team even if he was 80 years old.

De Villiers said, “You guys are funny. No, I would play MS Dhoni in my team every day of every year. He can be 80, in a wheelchair, and he would still play for my team. He is fantastic I mean look at his record. You want to drop a guy like that? You can go ahead by all means. I wouldn’t.”

The former South African international also heaped huge praise on Indian skipper Virat Kohli while stating that his Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) teammate is ‘Cristiano Ronaldo’, while he is ‘Lionel Messi’. Sharing the chemistry between the two, De Villiers that they have a similar mindset about the game which they enjoy as well. He feels It’s nice to bat with someone with the mutual understanding.
