Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) debutant Abhinav Manohar made an unforgettable impact with a sensational one-handed catch that sent Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Yashasvi Jaiswal back to the pavilion. The stunning grab came during the second over of RR’s daunting chase of 287 runs in their IPL 2025 opener at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Bowling his first over for SRH, pacer Simarjeet Singh delivered a short and wide ball, tempting Jaiswal into a powerful cut shot. The shot seemed destined to clear the infield, but Manohar, stationed at point, leaped into the air, extending both hands. The ball stuck miraculously in his right hand, sparking wild celebrations among the SRH players.

The 30-year-old Manohar’s perfect timing and athleticism made it a highlight moment of the game. Simarjeet Singh wasn’t done yet. After dismissing Jaiswal, he welcomed RR’s stand-in captain Riyan Parag to the crease. While Parag struck a boundary off his first ball, Simarjeet responded sharply with a short delivery clocking 145.5 kph.

Riyan Parag attempted a pull but mistimed it, resulting in a top-edge that found Pat Cummins comfortably at mid-on. The fiery pacer displayed his ability to generate pace and bounce, troubling the RR top order.
However, his next over proved expensive, going for 15 runs. The experienced Mohammed Shami struck soon after, dismissing Nitish Rana. The powerplay ended with Dhruv Jurel smashing 20 runs off Pat Cummins’ last over, taking RR to 73/6.
