Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Abhinav Manohar added a bizarre twist to a rollercoaster innings during their IPL 2025 clash against Mumbai Indians, getting out hit-wicket after staging a spirited fightback at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday, April 23. Coming in as an Impact Player after SRH suffered a dramatic collapse at 35/5, Manohar was thrust into a high-pressure situation. He walked in at No. 7 and, alongside Heinrich Klaasen, began the long road to recovery.

The duo stitched together a crucial 99-run partnership, which not only steadied the innings but gave the Hyderabad crowd something to cheer about after a dismal start.

Just as it seemed SRH were clawing their way back into the game, Manohar’s innings ended in a rather unfortunate manner. On the fourth ball of the final over, Trent Boult bowled a full delivery outside off. Manohar, deep in his crease, trying to squeeze it toward the off side, lost his balance and inadvertently dislodged the bails with his bat, resulting in a rare hit-wicket dismissal.

It was a disappointing end to what had been a gutsy knock. Manohar scored 43 off 37 deliveries, including two boundaries and three towering sixes. His dismissal was the second strange moment of the innings for SRH, after Ishan Kishan earlier walked off despite no edge, confusing commentators and fans alike.

Manohar’s dismissal, while unlucky, epitomised the chaos and pressure SRH faced throughout their innings. Still, his partnership with Klaasen ensured the team finished with a respectable total after early setbacks. As Sunrisers looked to defend 143, it was a reminder of how every run — and every moment — counts in a tightly-contested IPL season.
