Sunrisers Hyderabad delivered a commanding performance against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, but Abhishek Sharma still found himself in the headlines for the wrong reasons. The all-rounder was fined 25 per cent of his match fees and handed one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the clash. Abhishek admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.3 and accepted the sanction, with IPL regulations stating that such decisions are final and binding.

Despite the disciplinary action, it was a near-perfect outing for SRH on the field. Heinrich Klaasen played a pivotal role, anchoring the innings with a well-compiled 52 off 35 balls. His knock helped SRH post an imposing 226/8 after being asked to bat first.

The platform was laid early by the aggressive opening pair of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. The duo stitched together an explosive 82-run stand in just 34 balls, putting KKR’s bowling attack under immediate pressure. Abhishek looked in sublime touch, scoring a quickfire 48 off 21 deliveries and taking on both pace and spin with confidence.

Although SRH briefly lost momentum in the middle overs, Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy steadied the innings with a crucial 82-run partnership, ensuring a strong finish.

In response, KKR’s batting lineup struggled to keep up with the required rate. Ajinkya Rahane failed to make an impact, while Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s fluent 52 lacked support. Regular wickets and a couple of costly run-outs derailed their chase as they were bowled out for 161 in just 16 overs.

SRH’s bowlers shared the workload effectively, sealing a dominant 65-run win, even as Abhishek’s fine slightly overshadowed an otherwise impressive performance.
