India’s rising T20 star Abhishek Sharma visited the sacred Vaishno Devi Temple on Friday, just days after helping India clinch the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title at home. The 25-year-old opener travelled to the revered shrine in Katra to offer prayers following what has been a memorable moment in his young international career.

Abhishek shared glimpses of his pilgrimage on Instagram, captioned “Jai Mata Di,” posting pictures along the route to the shrine. In the photos, the left-handed batter can be seen dressed in a traditional white kurta-pyjama, standing with folded hands and a tilak on his forehead, reflecting a quiet moment of gratitude after India’s historic triumph.

Several videos circulating on social media also showed the Punjab cricketer walking along the pilgrimage route with devotees. At certain stretches, he was seen travelling in a battery car while interacting warmly with fans who gathered along the path to greet him.

The visit comes shortly after Abhishek delivered a remarkable turnaround in the World Cup final. Despite entering the summit clash under pressure, the young opener produced one of the most explosive innings of the tournament against New Zealand national cricket team in Ahmedabad. Prior to the final, he had endured a difficult run, including three consecutive ducks, which led to debates about his place in the playing XI.

However, the team management continued to back him, and Abhishek repaid that faith in spectacular fashion. He smashed a blistering 52 off just 21 balls, setting the tone for India’s massive total of 255/5. The innings proved decisive as India went on to dominate the final and secure a commanding 96-run victory.
