The schedule for the men’s cricket event at the Asian Games 2022 has been unveiled, setting the stage for a thrilling competition. Fourteen teams will vie for the coveted gold medal in the tournament, which is scheduled to commence on September 27 and culminate with the gold medal game on October 7.
To ensure fair competition, the top four ICC T20I-ranked teams have been seeded directly into the quarter-finals. The fifth-ranked team will secure its spot in the quarter-finals based on their ICC rankings.
The preliminary round has been divided into three groups – A, B, and C. Group A comprises Nepal, Maldives, and Mongolia, while Group B consists of Hong Kong, Japan, and Cambodia. Group C is composed of Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. The top team from each group will advance to the quarter-finals.

The seeded teams, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan (the fifth-ranked team), will enjoy a direct entry into the quarter-finals.

Afghanistan, the fifth-ranked ICC T20I team, along with the winners of Group A and Group B, and the winner of the qualifier will have their positions in the quarter-finals determined by a draw of lots.
The action-packed quarter-finals are scheduled for October 3, with India competing in QF1 and Pakistan in QF2. Sri Lanka will face off against the opponent in QF3 on October 4, while Bangladesh will clash with the qualifying team in QF4, also on the same day. The first semi-final will take place on October 6, followed by the second semi-final later in the day.

The battle for the third place, the bronze medal match, is slated for October 7, just before the grand finale that will determine the gold medal winner. Cricket enthusiasts can look forward to an exciting and intense competition as these teams vie for glory in the Asian Games 2022.
