Former cricketer Priyank Panchal questioned Abhishek Sharma’s statement, where he admitted that he has a very limited range of strokes amid his rough patch during the T20 World Cup campaign for India. He has had a poor start to the tournament, and he has recorded two ducks already, while missing a match due to illness.

“If you watch videos [of bowlers] or if you watch your batting videos as well, you get an idea that where the bowler is planning to bowl to you or maybe where I’m going to play my shots. But it’s always about me backing my shots because I don’t have a lot of shots. It’s just a few shots. I’m going to practice a lot and just execute it,” Abhishek Sharma had said during the post-match presentation (via ESPN Cricinfo).

“I’m slightly concerned that teams are now consistently keeping the ball away from Abhishek’s hitting zones. He admitted that he doesn’t have a lot of shots during the series vs NZ, and while that might be a humble thing to say, I’d back him to solve this complication,” he posted on X.

Meanwhile, Team India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak said that there is no panic regarding Abhishek Sharma’s lack of runs over the last few innings as well.
“The one thing we definitely don’t unnecessarily do is over-analyze. Sometimes you [as batters] start making more assumptions than the opposition do. He has his plans sorted, he follows the way he wants to, and obviously we discuss the opposition, their bowling, their strengths, what they’ve been doing – all that is normal for everyone, not just Abhishek,” Sitanshu Kotak said during the pre-match press conference.
