Afridi Applauds Yuvraj and Harbhajan For Supporting Him

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi took to social media to applaud the veteran Indian cricketers, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh for lending support to his foundation — Shahid Afridi Foundation which has joined the fight against Covid-19 pandemic. Afridi said Yuvraj and Harbhajan have always been his ‘huge pillars of support’ and that their bond shows how ‘love and peace’ can ‘transgress borders’ during such tough situations.

Talking about about the same on Twitter, Afridi wrote: “Thank you for all you support-both yourself & my brother @harbhajan_singh are huge pillars of support; this bond we have shows love & peace transgresses borders when it comes to humanity especially. Best wishes to you with your noble endeavours with @YOUWECAN.”

Notably, Shahid has been receiving praise from several cricketers, including former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, for his foundation’s work towards providing food, disinfectants and other essentials the worst-affected in Pakistan due to the pandemic. Earlier, Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh had joined forces with Shahid Afridi for helping the needy during the global health crisis.

The two Indian cricketers even faced a lot of heat on Twitter from a section of fans for helping the former Pakistan cricketer’s foundation. “In these times, it’s important to be together,” Yuvraj said in a video he posted on social media while urging support to Shahid Afridi Foundation.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus positive patients in India went past 1600 with 37 people losing their lives on Thursday, as per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

The entire world is slowly moving towards a lockdown due to the scare of the ever-escalating situation concerning the World Health Organisation-recognized pandemic that is the Coronavirus. Everything- schools, colleges, airports, railway stations, gyms, sporting events, movies, offices- have been put under lockdown as the world continues to self-isolate in order to control the pandemic.
