On Wednesday, the flamboyant Pakistan cricketer, Ahmed Shehzad had a scary experience in the night when he was hit by a car on the road while returning from a session in the gym. However, he was reported to be safe and went to the police to lodge a complaint. The Lahore cricketer is not playing for Pakistan’s national side for he is facing a ban after failing in a drug test.

However, Shehzad is a part of the Quetta Gladiators squad that would take part in the 2019 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) commencing in February. The batsman who is called “Pakistan’s Kohli” more for his looks than batting prowess, was earlier banned for failing the dope Test and now his ban has been extended by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in November by six weeks because of violation of rules by the cricketer who played for the Lahore Club and Muslim Gymkhana.

Shehzad had failed the dope test conducted in July during a domestic tournament and he was charged with violation of rules and put under a ban of four months barring him from participating in any form of cricket. Shehzad later claimed that a cancer medicine that his mother takes was mistakenly given to him by his wife who thought it to be one for dizziness and it landed him in trouble.

The cricketer tweeted about his latest ordeal on Wednesday and former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq and other fans expressed their concern over Shahzad’s health. Here is Shehzad’s tweet:

Shehzad made his international debut in 2009 against Australia and has gone on to play 13 Tests, 81 ODIs and 57 T20Is where he scored 5,000-plus international runs with 10 centuries. He also has two wickets in ODIs.

Though it’s been over a year since he played last played international cricket in Tests and ODIs, his last T20I game was against Scotland in Edinburgh in June. In the PSL, Shehzad has been signed by his former team Gladiators after he represented the now-defunct Multan Sultans in the 2018 season.
