Former India wicketkeeper batter Ajay Ratra has been added to the national men’s team selection committee. The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) of the BCCI, comprising Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape, named him as the replacement for the veteran Salil Ankola.
In January 2024, Cricbuzz reported that the BCCI were looking for a new selector who could look after the North Zone with one incumbent member likely to not get an extension. Ankola was the likely exit since he and Ajit Agarkar, the current head of the committee, came from the same zone (West).
Ajay Ratra, who played 6 Tests and 12 ODIs for India, has worked in the domestic circuit as the head coach of Assam, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh so far as well. He was also part of India’s support staff on the ODI leg of the tour to South Africa in 2023 as well.
