Notably, Delhi Capitals were at the top of the points table before the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IPL Governing Council has decided to postpone the 14th edition of the IPL for an indefinite time period. Their decision came after multiple Covid cases were recorded within the bio-bubble as well.

It started with Kolkata Knight Riders’ Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep warrior and later Chennai Super Kings’ bowling coach L Balaji, SunRisers Hyderabad’s Wriddhiman Saha and Delhi Capitals’ Amit Mishra too joined in the infected players’ list which led the board to take the decision to call it off now. However, before the postponement, the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings were placed at the second spot in the points table with 10 points with Royal Challengers Bangalore at third as well.
