Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane produced one of the most bizarre yet entertaining moments of IPL 2026 during their clash against Lucknow Super Giants at Eden Gardens on April 9.ย The incident unfolded in the ninth over of KKRโ€™s innings when Rahane faced Avesh Khan. Attempting an aggressive shot to a back-of-a-length delivery outside off stump, Rahane lost his grip on the bat mid-swing.

In a rare sight, the bat went flying out of his hands, but the timing was so clean that the ball still sailed over the deep backward point boundary for a stunning six. The unusual hit left players and fans equally stunned, quickly going viral across social media.

Rahane has shown glimpses of strong form this season. He played a composed unbeaten knock of 67 off 40 balls against the Mumbai Indians earlier in the tournament, but struggled in the following game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Against LSG, however, he looked determined to anchor the innings.

Alongside young batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Ajinkyaย  Rahane helped steady KKR after an early setback. The team had lost Finn Allen cheaply in the second over, courtesy of Prince Yadav. Despite that early blow, the Rahane-Raghuvanshi partnership ensured KKR maintained control through the middle overs.
