In a video that quickly went viral on social media, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Ajinkya Rahane was seen in a frantic moment, nearly missing the team bus before KKR’s opening clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The footage shows Rahane, holding a bat, running toward the team bus as it appeared ready to leave for the stadium for a practice session.
While the authenticity of the video is still unverified, it has already sparked plenty of chatter among fans. Kolkata has been experiencing intermittent rain over the past few days, with light showers recorded on Wednesday and Thursday. Despite the wet conditions, both teams managed to complete their practice sessions, preparing for what promises to be a gripping encounter.
The Knight Riders and Royal Challengers have met only once before in the opening match of an IPL season, a game etched in history. Back in 2008, Brendon McCullum’s explosive 158 not out set the tone for the tournament and powered KKR to a massive 140-run victory.
