The Indian cricket team is currently locking horns with Afghanistan for the historic one-off Test match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. It’s a historic game for the visitors as they are playing their maiden Test match. Virat Kohli, India’s captain has been rested for the match and hence, Ajinkya Rahane has been handed over the role to lead the team.

Ajinkya didn’t have a memorable outing during the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he was awfully out of touch with the bat. Rahane has been pretty successful in Test cricket and will definitely be itching to put up a show in the contest. Team India is scheduled to tour England in July for a full tour comprising of ODI, T20I and Test series, which is undoubtedly going to be a grueling journey for the visitors.

Meanwhile, Rahane will have a fair bit of time in hand as he has not be included in the limited-overs leg of the UK tour. However, in a recent review, he revealed that he will train himself at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai in a bid to prepare for the Test series.  As quoted in Sportstar, Rahane said, “That’s what I always do before a tournament, I start my training in Mumbai.”

It was previously learned that some Test specialists will be visiting England for some match practice. Ajinkya mentioned that he would have a chat regarding the move, he said, “I don’t know what will happen after this Test match, but I will definitely have a word with the selectors.”

The Mumbaikar batsman has been a decent performer in the limited-overs formats as well but somehow hasn’t been able to hold on to his position. With the World Cup less than a year away, the task for the classical batsman is becoming that much more difficult. For the time being, he isn’t keen to think all of that and is focused on tomorrow’s match.
