The deputy Indian skipper in Tests, Ajinkya Rahane, who led Team India to a historic Test series win in Australia last month in the absence of the regular captain, Virat Kohli, took to Instagram on Wednesday where he shared a video of himself having a net session in Chennai ahead of the first Test against England.

In the 23-second video, Ajinkya Rahane can be seen middling the ball more often than not against the off-spinners as he geared up for the upcoming four-match Test series against England. On Monday, the Indian team completed their mandatory quarantine and cleared COVID-19 tests as they resumed training. Captioning the video, Rahane tweeted, “Back to training.”

With Kohli making a comeback to the Indian team, Rahane will play the role of his deputy in the upcoming home Test series, scheduled to be commencing on February 5. In his last Test series, Rahane had amassed 268 runs at an average of 38.29 and also managed to score a match-winning century at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Explaining the same, TNCA secretary RS Ramasaamy said, “We have spoken to the BCCI, we will get official approval for 50 per cent fans by today evening.” The England team also completed their quarantine on Monday and all players returned negative results.
