Former India fast bowler, Ajit Agarkar reckons that Mohammed Shami has been India’s best bowler in the longest format of the game and he will be the highest wicket-taker in the upcoming World Test Championship final against New Zealand. Agarkar pointed that Shami can be termed as India’s best pacer despite having a bowler like Jasprit Bumrah in the team because the veteran sin;t dependent on the bowling conditions. 

Team India has already reached Southampton and serving the mandatory quarantine period. Players have been sharing pictures of the Rose bowl which is visible from their hotel rooms attached to the stadium.

Talking about the same during a show on Star Sports, Ajit Agarkar said, “I think Mohammad Shami will be the highest wicket-taker. I think Bumrah’s rise has been rapid, but to me, Mohammad Shami has been India’s number one bowler, certainly in Test cricket and the conditions don’t matter to him.”

Agarkar also opined that Kane Williamson-led New Zealand can be termed favorite to win the inaugural edition of the WTC. He also predicted that Indian skipper, Virat Kohli will be the highest run-scorer in the summit clash. The all-important clash between Virat Kohli’s Team India and Kane Williamson’s New Zealand team will kick off from June 18th and will be played in Southampton.

Describing the same, Ajit Agarkar said, “It’s a difficult one to pick who is going to win it. I think New Zealand might just start favourites in this one. For the leading run-getter, I will go with Virat Kohli. I think he showed us what he could do in England the second time he toured even under difficult conditions and he’d want to be the man to stand up for India.”
