In a dramatic moment during the Gujarat Titans vs Lucknow Super Giants clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Akash Singh was forced off the field with a bloodied hand after trying to stop a powerful straight drive from Shubman Gill. The painful incident unfolded in the sixth over of Gujarat’s innings.

Akash Singh, the left-arm pacer, was handed the ball to bowl to Titans skipper Shubman Gill. On the very first delivery of the over, a full ball outside off, Gill leaned into a textbook straight drive. He timed it beautifully, sending the ball screaming back past the bowler’s follow-through.

Instinctively, Akash Singh stuck out both hands to stop the shot. He managed to prevent the ball from racing away to the boundary, but it came at a cost. The impact left him nursing a nasty cut on his right hand. Initially unaware of the extent of the damage, Akash casually walked back to his mark, preparing to bowl the next ball. However, upon noticing the blood, he immediately signaled for the physio.

The physio sprinted onto the field, and it was soon confirmed that the injury—though not on his bowling arm—was serious enough to sideline him temporarily. Avesh Khan stepped in to complete the over, while Akash received treatment.

At the time of the incident, Gujarat Titans were 96/3 in the 10th over. William O’Rourke had earlier struck a key blow for LSG, removing the in-form Sai Sudharsan for 21. The Titans’ top-order showed promise, but both Shubman Gill (35) and Jos Buttler (33) failed to convert their starts into big scores, leaving the chase hanging in the balance.
Earlier in the evening, LSG had put up a massive total of 235/2 on the board. Mitchell Marsh delivered a batting masterclass, hammering 117, while Nicholas Pooran played the perfect finisher’s role with an unbeaten 56.
