Aleem Dar offers free food to unemployed amid coronavirus pandemic

Pakistan’s international umpire Aleem Dar has taken a great step amid the coronavirus pandemic. He has decided to offer free food in his restaurant in Lahore to help in relief efforts against the global pandemic, especially for those who have lost their employments due to the lockdown in the country. He has done umpiring in 386 international matches the most by anyone said that his restaurant Dar’s Delighto will serve free food to all those suffering hard times during the outbreak.

“Coronavirus has spread all over the world, and its effects are now being seen in Pakistan as well,” said the former first-class cricketer. “The provincial governments and the central government has issued measures for you to follow for your safety.

“However, without our support, our government cannot control this. I request all people to follow the instructions as directed by the government. During this lockdown, people have become jobless. I own a restaurant named Dar’s Delighto on Pia Road in Lahore. People who are jobless especially can come there and eat food for free,” he again added.

India’s 1.3 billion people remain under lockdown on Thursday to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. Other countries in South Asia are also struggling amid the coronavirus outbreak across the globe. Pakistan’s tally of positive cases has reached to 1,022, with eight deaths so far, it’s Health Ministry confirmed on Wednesday.

However, the Authorities have shut down Sindh province which is the home to its largest city Karachi, even though Prime Minister Imran Khan said he was not in a favour to a full lockdown because the poor would suffer the most because of this. On the other hand, Sri Lanka has sealed itself off from the outside world fully, suspending all flights in and out of the island nation as well to restrict the spread of the virus there.
