Exactly four years ago, Alex Hales’ Man-of-the-Match performance enabled England to draw level the T20I series 1-1 against Australia. England had succumbed to a 39-run loss in the first T20I at Southampton. George Bailey, the then Australia T20I captain, won the toss and put England in to bat in this match.
England openers, Michael Lumb and Alex Hales, dominated the visiting bowlers from the word go. By the end of the powerplay, England had scored 61-0. At the halfway mark, England reached 94-0 and crossed the 100-run mark in the following over. At this point, Hales had already scored a demolishing half-century. Continuing his economical spell, Fawad Ahmed picked his maiden T20I wicket in the form of Lumb (111-1).
Hales continued with his blitz with after receiving able support from Luke Wright and Eoin Morgan. He was dismissed on the last delivery of the 19th over and was the third England wicket to fall (187-3). He ended up scoring 94 (61) with the help of 11 fours & two sixes.
