Earlier this year, the autobiography of the former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly was released which was named as ‘A Century Is Not Enough’ and soon after that a lot of fans thought that the book can be turned into a film or web series no sooner than later. But it was impossible to guess that the digital platform of Ekta Kapoor, Alt-Balaji will take the responsibility of the same.
According to the reports of the Indian Express, it is Kapoor’s digital platform that is in talks to develop Sourav ‘Dada’ Ganguly’s life into a series. Ganguly was quoted as, “I have had a few discussions with Balaji, though nothing is final yet. I’ll have more details once we take this forward.”
Sourav has been one of the world’s most cherished batsmen and one of the most successful Indian skippers as well, especially on the foreign soil. He is also known as a fiercely passionate individual who recorded one of the most famous comebacks in the history of Indian cricket.

From starting off with a Test century on debut at Lords to taking on the reins of Indian cricket to a different level after the difficult chapter of match-fixing. Leading India to that famous win against Australia, to being sacked as a captain and later on making a comeback for the 2007 World Cup side, Ganguly’s career has been filled with a lot of ups and downs. And that’s why his life makes for an amazing series – unlike the lives of a Sachin Tendulkar or an MS Dhoni.
Both the biopics of Dhoni and Tendulkar which were named as MS Dhoni: The Untold Story and Sachin: A Billion Dreams, have been declared blockbusters – just another incentive for Ekta to go ahead and film Ganguly’s life. Reports suggest that Ganguly is trying to get a director from Kolkata to helm the project, while Kapoor insists on one of her regulars.
With the involvement of Ekta Kapoor, the theme is expected to be melodramatic but it would be a shame to see a melodramatic version of Ganguly’s life on Alt-Balaji. She needs to tread carefully, there will be MANY fans holding their breath once this deal is signed.
