AM Ghazanfar delivered a crucial double strike to pull Mumbai Indians back into contention against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their IPL 2026 clash at the Wankhede Stadium on April 29. Defending a daunting 244, MI were under pressure after a blistering opening stand between Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma.

The duo stitched together a 129-run partnership, putting the visitors firmly in control of the chase. Abhishek looked particularly dangerous, smashing 45 off just 24 balls, including three sixes and four boundaries, while Head went on an all-out assault with a stunning 76 off 30 deliveries.

Just when the game seemed to be slipping away, Ghazanfar turned it around in the ninth over. He removed Abhishek with a cleverly flighted delivery, inducing a mistimed shot that was safely pouched by Trent Boult. On the very next ball, he struck again, dismissing Ishan Kishan for a golden duck, as the batter chopped one onto his stumps. The back-to-back wickets injected fresh energy into the MI camp.
