Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) batter Ambati Rayudu has opined that skipper, Ravindra Jadeja has the potential to lead Team India in the future. Back in March, Jadeja became the captain of the Chennai-based franchise after MS Dhoni decided to resign as the captain. The all-rounder didn’t make a great start to his captaincy stint as CSK started their campaign with five back-to-back losses.
Ambati Rayudu, who has been with the Yellow Army since 2018, backed Jadeja to come good as he is gaining the experience of leading the IPL franchise. The 36-year-old also stated that stepping into Dhoni’s shoes wouldn’t be a cakewalk by any stretch of the imagination.

During a chat on CSK’s Youtube channel, Ambati Rayudu said, “Filling in MS Dhoni’s shoes, it’s never going to happen. But Jaddu definitely has it in him and under the guidance of Mahi bhai and till the time he’s around on the ground with him, it will be very easy for him. Jadeja will become better. He has it in him to not only lead CSK but also India one day.”
Moreover, Ambati Rayudu said that the Super Kings, also the four-time IPL champions, are going through a transition phase and are looking to give young players chances. He seems pretty positive that CSK will grow leaps and bounds under Jadeja.
Elaborating the same, Ambati Rayudu said, “There is the shift and it has to come. A lot of youngsters will continue to feature in CSK as the years go by. Having a young captain like Jadeja who has done it and seen it all, it will be great for them to be under him and have his confidence. They have the backing of the captain and I think he is going in the right direction and even the team is. CSK will be very, very successful under him.”

After a poor start to their sojourn, CSK has only managed to win a couple of games out of their last three matches and are placed at ninth in the points table with four points and a net run rate of -0.534. The Super Kings are next scheduled to lock horns with Mayank Agarwal’s Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Monday, April 25 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
