The veteran Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman, AB de Villiers failed to stay at the crease for longer as he witnessed a golden duck upon his return in the second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 as Andre Russell castled him with a toe-crushing yorker. Currently, RCB is locking horns with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their first game of the UAE leg of the tournament.

In the literal sense, AB de Villiers played down the wrong line to the full-length yorker aimed at him by the Caribbean all-rounder. The South African missed the ball which hit his back leg to take a deflection and hit the sticks sending him back for a duck.

Here is the video of the dismissal:

Virat Kohli and his men could never manage to get off with the run-scoring as the KKR bowlers managed to take wickets at regular intervals, starting with the wicket of the skipper who has trapped lbw by Prasidh Krishna in the second over.

Devdutt Padikkal and debutant KK Bharat tried to hold the innings and give some momentum before Lockie Ferguson, who was playing in place of Pat Cummins, dismissed the left-handed opener on the last ball of the powerplay.

Andre Russell got rid of Bharat with a short ball before yorking out AB de Villiers. Varun Chakravarthy, who was recently selected in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup squad, snapped a brace – that of Glenn Maxwell and Wanindu Hasaranga, the former being bowled and the latter being given lbw.

Eventually, RCB got bundled for the meager score of 92 with Padikkal being the highest run-getter and KKR chased it down with almost 10 overs to spare.
