Andre Russell Disturbed with Viral Image Circulating Social Media

West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell expressed his anger and frustration after a disturbing image went viral on social media. The image consisted of a police officer pointing a rubber-bullet gun at a young black girl.

On May 25, The death of George Floyd Minneapolis caused massive outrage on social media and the United States.  People across the United States have taken to the streets and protested against racism for the black people in America.

The above-shared picture of a young girl having a rubber-bullet gun pointed at caught many people’s attention. The image is from a protest that took Long Beach in California.

“This man stood with his child most of the time until the police started using concussive grenades but they never fired on him but occasionally pointed their rubber bullet guns towards him,” Richard Grant,  the freelance photographer said.

West Indies star Andre Russell shared the image on his Instagram account. The allrounder also stated a strong message in the caption of the same. Russell captioned, “Look at this shit that’s going on this is disturbing. Wonder what’s going on in this poor little girl’s mind.”

 

Prominent athletes and sports personalities from across the globe have condemned the incident after the death of George Floyd.

Earlier, West Indies star opener Chris Gayle also ranted out his anger on the same. The West Indian took to social media and revealed how racism is not limited to football and also exists in cricket.

“Black lives matter just like any other life. Black people matter, p***k all racist people, stop taking black people for fools, even our own black people wise the p***k up and stop bringing down your own! I have traveled the globe and experience racial remarks towards me because I am black, believe me, the list goes on.

“Racism is not only in football, it’s in cricket too. Even within teams as a black man, I get the end of the stick. Black and powerful. Black and proud,” Gayle said.
