Former England skipper, Andrew Strauss has joined in the criticism brigade of Virat Kohli after the India captain defended the pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium where his team won the Pink-ball Test which ended in 2 days against England. Strauss feels Kohli was probably “looking after the groundsmen” when he said after the match that the batsmen were to blame for the 3rd Test ending on Day 2 and not the pitch.
During a chat on Channel 4, Andrew Strauss said, “To say the pitch has no fault to play, I totally agree with Cooky. Kohli’s looking after the groundsmen there to a certain degree.”
Another former England skipper, Alastair Cook also took a dig at Kohli for his post-match presentation earlier this week.

Talking about the same, Cook had said, “Virat Kohli’s come out and defended the wicket almost as if it’s a BCCI thing — it cannot possibly be the wicket. Yet it was so hard to bat on that. So hard. Take the wicket out and blame the batsmen?”
28 out of the 30 wickets were taken by the spinners with batsmen from both teams failing to read the line and length on a pitch where some balls were turning while others went straight with the arm. However, Kohli said it was a good pitch to bat but the performance from both sides was below-par.
Talking about the pitch, Virat Kohli had said, “It was a very good pitch to bat on, especially in the first innings. We felt like the ball was coming on nicely with the oddball turning but it was below-par batting from both teams. Our bowlers were much more effective and that’s why we got the result.”

Ahmedabad will also host the fourth and final Test starting on March 4. For the hosts, a draw in the final Test will be enough to secure their place in the WTC final against New Zealand. If they lose the match, also in Ahmedabad from March 4, Australia will play New Zealand in the June 18-22 contest.
