Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) head coach Andy Flower has provided an update on Virat Kohli’s finger injury, which he sustained during the IPL 2025 clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The incident took place in the 12th over of GT’s run chase when Kohli attempted to stop a boundary.

Fielding at deep mid-wicket, Virat Kohli misjudged the ball’s bounce off Sai Sudharsan’s bat, and it struck his right hand. The RCB talisman immediately showed signs of discomfort, prompting medical attention from the physio. However, after receiving treatment, Kohli continued fielding. Addressing concerns in the post-match press conference, Andy Flower reassured fans, stating, “Virat looks fine, he’s okay.”

Virat Kohli had an underwhelming outing with the bat, managing just 7 runs off 6 balls before falling to Arshad Khan. The RCB opener mistimed a pull shot, offering a simple catch at deep backward square leg. This marked the first time in IPL 2025 that Kohli failed to cross 40 runs in an innings.

RCB’s batting struggled early as Phil Salt (14 off 13), Devdutt Padikkal (4 off 3), and Rajat Patidar (12 off 12) departed cheaply, reducing them to 42/4 inside the powerplay. However, Jitesh Sharma (33 off 21) and Liam Livingstone (54 off 40) staged a recovery, stitching a 52-run partnership. Tim David’s late blitz (32 off 18) helped RCB post a fighting total.

GT’s bowlers, led by Mohammed Siraj (3/19), kept RCB in check. In response, Gujarat’s chase was clinical, with Sai Sudharsan (49 off 36) and Jos Buttler (73* off 39) guiding them home in 17.5 overs. GT secured an emphatic eight-wicket victory, handing RCB their first loss of the season.
