Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) head coach Andy Flower has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee after breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during RCB’s tense clash against the Mumbai Indians (MI). The IPL confirmed the development on Monday, stating that Flower was penalised for an incident involving the fourth umpire during the high-pressure encounter.

According to the IPL statement, Flower committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.3 of the Code of Conduct, which relates to the “use of an audible obscenity during a match.” The incident reportedly took place in the 17.2 over when the experienced coach reacted aggressively while speaking to the fourth umpire from the dugout.
“Andy Flower, Head Coach, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, has been fined 15% of his applicable match fee for breaching Level 1 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials,” the IPL said in its official release.

The statement further confirmed that Flower admitted to the offence and accepted the punishment imposed by match referee Amit Sharma. While the moment created controversy on the sidelines, the dramatic match itself delivered another thrilling finish in IPL 2026.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru returned to winning ways with a nervy two-wicket victory over the Mumbai Indians at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. Rasikh Salam Dar held his nerve to complete the chase with two runs off the final delivery from Raj Bawa, sealing an important win for the defending champions.
Mumbai Indians posted 166/7 after Naman Dhir’s fighting 47, but RCB’s chase was anchored by a sensational innings from Krunal Pandya. Promoted to No. 5, the all-rounder smashed 73 off just 46 balls and shifted momentum with two massive sixes in the 18th over.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar also played a decisive role, picking up 4/23 and rattling Mumbai early with three wickets in his first two overs.
