India and Sri Lanka are all set to play against each other in the three-match T20I series which will start from January 5. India have already announced a strong squad for the series while Sri Lanka has also announced a 16-member squad which will travel India. The veteran all-rounder Angelo Mathews has returned to the squad after spending 18 months out of the team as well as from the format.
He last played for Sri Lanka in the T20 format in August 2018 against South Africa in Colombo. The fact that they have recalled Mathews proves that they are lacking experience as the T20 World Cup around the corner. Sri Lanka lost their last T20I series on Australia tour as well. They are expecting the presence of Angelo Mathews will give strength to Sri Lanka’s line-up.

Lasith Malinga has been retained as the captain of the team. There are a couple of changes to the squad which earlier had toured in October last year. While Nuwan Pradeep is still not recovered from his injury and was not available for selection, Shehan Jayasuriya has been left out too.
The all-rounder although performed well against Pakistan, he couldn’t do well in Australia which might have seen him out of the team. The series will begin from January 5 in Guwahati and after that, it will shift to Indore and Pune where the next two T20Is will be played on January 7 and 10 respectively.
