Sri Lankan cricket has already been going through a rough patch. With every passing day, it seems there is no hope to resolve these. Howveer, the board members are well aware of this situation too. While they lost to England in the ODI and T20I series, they are going to get a big blow as experienced Sri Lankan cricketer Angelo Mathews has reportedly informed Sri Lanka Cricket of his retirement from international cricket as well.

Meanwhile, England were about to have a 3-0 clean sweep on Sri Lanka in the T20I series. It was more or less the same case in the ODI series where England were on the verge of having yet another whitewash. But rains played spoilsport and the third ODI got abandoned as well.

However, the second-string Indian team led by Shikhar Dhawan have already reached Sri Lanka as they have also finished their mandatory quarantine period and they are currently preparing for the challenges as well. Meanwhile, Angelo Mathews has already hinted to the board regarding his decision and will come with his last decision in the upcoming weeks as well.

Meanwhile,  Suryakumar Yadav, who has earned his maiden call up earlier this year is ready for the new challenge as he will take on Sri Lanka alongside others this month as well. However, the second-string Indian team will play three ODIs and as many T20Is against Sri Lanka where a few new faces have also been added. While Suryakumar Yadav has done a lot to reach this height, he believes he hasn’t done anything and there’s a long way to go.

“I think I have been doing the same thing that I have been doing for my franchise back in the IPL,” Suryakumar Yadav said on Tuesday. “Even in my debut series (against England), I did not do anything different. I have been enjoying that (attacking) role really well in whatever position they tell me to bat. I will stay the same. I will just go out there and express myself like I always do. I enjoy doing that.”
