Angkrish Raghuvanshi found himself at the centre of a rare and controversial dismissal during Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL 2026 clash against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday. The incident unfolded on the final ball of the fifth over when Raghuvanshi nudged a delivery from Prince Yadav towards mid-on and attempted a quick single.

However, he was sent back midway by Cameron Green. As the throw came in, the ball struck Raghuvanshi’s legs while he was running back to the crease. Sensing an opportunity, Mohammed Shami and LSG skipper Rishabh Pant appealed immediately.

The decision was referred to the third umpire, who ruled that Raghuvanshi had deliberately changed his running line, thereby obstructing the field and preventing a fair chance of a run-out. The batter was consequently given out under the ‘obstructing the field’ law.

The call left the KKR camp stunned, with visible disbelief among players and support staff. Raghuvanshi himself appeared frustrated, engaging in a brief exchange with the on-field umpires before walking off. His disappointment was evident as he flung his helmet in anger near the boundary.

Earlier, LSG had won the toss and elected to bowl first. KKR, fresh from their first win of the season against Rajasthan Royals, named an unchanged XI. Meanwhile, LSG made one adjustment to their lineup, bringing in George Linde as they looked to break a streak of inconsistent performances. The rare dismissal added an unexpected twist to an already high-stakes encounter.
