In the IPL 2024 clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Sam Curran, the dynamic all-rounder for PBKS, faced a setback with the bat. Unlike his previous match-winning performance, Curran couldn’t replicate his success in this game against RCB.
Despite showing promise and seeming poised for a substantial contribution, Curran’s innings was curtailed prematurely by a remarkable display of wicketkeeping prowess from Anuj Rawat. Rawat, chosen over Dinesh Karthik for his agility behind the stumps, justified his selection with a spectacular catch that sent Curran packing.
The pivotal moment unfolded during the final delivery of the 18th over, bowled by RCB’s Yash Dayal. A sharply directed bouncer at 141.7 kph unsettled Curran, who attempted a hook shot but only managed to glove the ball. Initially seeming destined for the boundary, the ball was intercepted by Anuj Rawat’s perfectly timed leap, snatching it from the air with his right hand.

Anuj Rawat’s catch not only dismissed the dangerous Curran but also underscored his exceptional skill and reflexes as a wicketkeeper. His ability to anticipate the trajectory of the ball and execute a flawless catch, despite the odds, was nothing short of extraordinary. It was a pivotal moment in the match, showcasing the impact that a skilled wicketkeeper can have in turning the tide of a game.
