The Indian Sports Minister Anurag Thakur shared his views on the Indian team touring Pakistan for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. As per ICC’s new schedule, Pakistan will host the mega event in 2025. The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday announced a jam-packed schedule for the next ten years.
One of the biggest talking points from the development was Pakistan has become the host for the Champions Trophy that will be played in 2025. Pakistan hosting an ICC tournament is a major talking point and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur shared his views on whether or not the Men in Blue will tour Pakistan for the tournament.
Due to the political tensions between the neighboring countries, India and Pakistan now lock horns only in ICC events and it has been quite some time since India last toured Pakistan for any series. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Anurag Thakur said that Home Ministry will be involved in the decision and the decision will be taken after a lot of assessment.
As per the quotes in ANI, Anurag Thakur said, “When the time comes will see what to do. The home ministry will be involved in decision-making. A lot of countries have pulled out of going to Pakistan due to security issues. Will assess the security then and decide.”
He further added, “During the international championships, all the factors are looked upon. As you all know, many players were even attacked while playing over there and that’s a big issue to be dealt with.”
Eleven full members and three associate members have been selected to host two ICC Men’s Cricket World Cups, four ICC Men’s T20 World Cups, and two ICC Men’s Champions Trophy events.
