Both attended the post-IPL party on Sunday night after CSK’s historic win. His presence has created an excitement among the BCCI officials who wished to be seen with him. However, a lot will depend on how the Supreme Court will treat the ‘cooling off’ in the Lodha panel recommendations. Meanwhile, most of the board members are pretty optimistic about the apex court’s treatment of the plea sympathetically.

As per reports in the Mumbai Mirror, Thakur can be expected to make a comeback as the president with Anirudh Chaudhary, the current treasurer, as the secretary whenever the elections take place. He was dismissed by the Supreme Court last year. The Committee of Administrators (CoA) had a meeting On Sunday in Delhi to take a stock of the situation. They also met representatives of Telangana and Chhattisgarh.

In May 2016, the son of former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, Anurag Thakur was elected as the BCCI President after Shahshank Manohar elected by the ICC. Prior to that, he was the secretary of the BCCI back in 2011 and had a fair amount of experience as the president of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association. The IPL Final was his first cricketing appearance following his ouster.

Last year in January, the Supreme Court ordered Thakur and Secretary Ajay Shirke to immediately cease and leave the office. Previously, Thakur denied applying the Lodha Panel’s sanctions and as a result of that accounts of the BCCI was frozen, which left Thakur disturbed. The situation only worsened from there onwards.
