Apollo Tyres has clinched the official sponsorship rights of the Indian cricket team, securing one of the most lucrative deals in Indian cricket history. The Gurgaon-headquartered tyre giant outbid Canva and JK Cements with a record-breaking offer of INR 579 crore for a three-year contract. This agreement covers 121 bilateral fixtures and 21 ICC matches, cementing Apollo’s entry into the elite circle of Indian cricket sponsors.

The bidding battle was intense. Canva had submitted a competitive bid of INR 544 crore, while JK Cements pitched INR 477 crore. However, Apollo Tyres’ aggressive INR 579 crore offer swung the deal in its favour. On average, the per-match sponsorship value amounts to approximately INR 4.77 crore, although the actual figure may vary based on the BCCI’s set base prices: INR 3.5 crore for bilateral games and INR 1.5 crore for ICC tournaments.

This landmark development comes just weeks after the BCCI was forced to terminate its agreement with Dream11. The fantasy sports platform had signed an INR 358 crore deal. Still, the newly enacted Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, which bans real-money gaming in India, forced the cancellation. The timing left India without a jersey sponsor during the Asia Cup, making Apollo’s arrival even more significant.

Welcoming the partnership, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said: “The arrival of Apollo Tyres as our new sponsor is a testament to the hard work and consistent performance of our teams. This isn’t just a commercial deal but a partnership between two trusted institutions.”

BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla echoed the sentiment, highlighting the legacy connection: “This association unites two powerful names: Indian cricket and Apollo Tyres. The competitive nature of the bidding shows the strong confidence brands have in Team India’s global presence.”

Treasurer Prabhtej Singh Bhatia emphasised the alignment of visions: “Apollo’s innovative outlook fits perfectly with our roadmap for Indian cricket’s future. We’re certain this partnership will drive the sport forward globally.” Meanwhile, Honorary Joint Secretary Rohan Gauns Dessai added, “This is a reflection of Team India’s consistency and the global appeal of Indian cricket. We warmly welcome Apollo Tyres into the BCCI family.”

From Apollo’s perspective, the deal symbolises more than visibility. Vice-Chairman & MD Neeraj Kanwar said: “Becoming the National Team Lead Sponsor is about honour, national pride, and reinforcing consumer trust. Cricket’s unmatched popularity will allow us to connect with fans across the world while backing Indian sport at the highest level.”

The association kicks off immediately. Apollo’s branding will debut during the India A vs Australia A ODI series in Kanpur (September 30, October 2, and October 5). The first official senior-team assignment under the new sponsorship will be the two-match Test series against the West Indies, starting October 2, followed by a high-profile tour of Australia.

For Apollo Tyres, which operates in over 100 countries, this move is more than just marketing—it is a strategic step to enhance its global footprint. For the BCCI, it ensures stability after the Dream11 setback, with a partner that adds both financial muscle and brand prestige. With Apollo’s logo soon to appear on the iconic blue jersey, fans can expect another chapter in the evolving partnership between corporate India and its most powerful sporting brand—Team India.
