Since joining Kent in March, Arshdeep had been eagerly awaiting his breakthrough in the County Championship Division 1, and it finally arrived on Sunday, June 11. Despite Kent posting a competitive total of 301 runs in their first innings, Arshdeep’s initial eight overs had remained wicketless but economically sound. Surrey stumbled to 42 for 5 in 21.5 overs in response to Kent’s score. In Kent’s innings, the impressive Jordan Cox played a vital role, smashing 133 runs from 198 balls, including 17 fours and two sixes.

“I am extremely happy and excited to be here, to be a part of such a prestigious franchise. Kent has a rich history, as I have been informed by people back home. It feels like home, just a bit colder. Why Kent? A large credit goes to Rahul Dravid, who told me about the club’s history and his own association with it. I wanted to play here because of that, as he has been an inspiration to many youngsters in India. His inspiration motivated me to join Kent as well,” shared Arshdeep Singh in a video released by the club before the match.

In addition to his successful county debut, Arshdeep Singh made a name for himself in international and domestic cricket. He emerged as India’s highest wicket-taker in the 2022 T20 World Cup, claiming 10 wickets in six matches with an impressive average of 15.60.
