Arshdeep Singh produced a moment of brilliance during the first T20I between India and Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, clean-bowling the experienced Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi with a superb slower yorker. Afghanistan had been in serious trouble after losing five wickets inside the first seven overs.
However, a rebuilding partnership had started to give them some hope before Arshdeep struck in the 17th over. The Indian pacer delivered a cleverly disguised slower yorker that completely outfoxed Nabi.
The dismissal came off the second ball of the 17th over. Arshdeep released the delivery with a change of pace, and the ball landed almost perfectly at Nabi’s toes before crashing into the stumps. It was a high-quality delivery that showcased the left-arm pacer’s ability to vary his pace under pressure.

Nabi was initially deceived by the slower pace and then beaten by the line. The veteran batter remained on his back foot and attempted to flick the ball towards the leg side. However, he misjudged the delivery and swung through the shot without making contact.

The ball went straight through the stumps, leaving Nabi with little chance of recovery. Arshdeep immediately spread his arms in celebration as his teammates joined him in marking another important breakthrough for India.

The wicket further strengthened India’s position in the contest after Jasprit Bumrah had earlier made an impressive return to international cricket by dismissing Rahmanullah Gurbaz for a two-ball duck. Abhishek Sharma took a sharp low catch off Bumrah’s bowling to complete the early dismissal.
With Arshdeep now adding Nabi to India’s list of victims, Afghanistan faced another setback in their innings as the hosts continued to maintain control over the first T20I.
