Arshdeep Singh has opened up about his mindset and journey as a professional cricketer, particularly in the T20I format, where he has emerged as India’s leading wicket-taker. The left-arm pacer played a starring role in India’s thrilling Super Over win against Sri Lanka in the final Super Four match of the Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Reflecting on his performance, Arshdeep emphasised the importance of staying present and avoiding overthinking during critical situations. He explained how he stuck to his plans despite a challenging start against Sri Lankan batters.
“The journey is like everyone else’s—you have to enjoy the present. Today, I was hit early in my spell, but I kept reminding myself to stay in the moment and think of ways I could contribute, even in the field. Eventually, I got my chance at the death, focused on taking wickets, and that helped us win the match,” Arshdeep Singh said while speaking to BCCI TV alongside teammates Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma.

The 25-year-old also underlined the importance of adaptability, especially for bowlers in the shortest format. According to him, reading the game situation and adjusting quickly is what separates good bowlers from great ones.

“My thought process has always been the same—whether I bowl with the new ball or old ball, first innings or second innings, I just look to adapt to the situation. I’ve been fortunate to share the field with legends like Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar), Shami bhai, Bumrah bhai, and now Hardik (Pandya) bhai. They create pressure from one end, and I reap the rewards from the other. I’m grateful for their support,” Arshdeep added.

Arshdeep’s calmness under pressure shone once again in the Super Over, where he conceded only two runs and claimed two wickets to seal India’s victory.
