Arshdeep Singh once again showed why he has become one of the most entertaining characters in the Indian dressing room, offering a hilarious take on how Jasprit Bumrah can finally earn a spot in one of his famous Instagram reels. Over the past few months, Arshdeep’s social media presence has exploded, with Indian players happily joining his light-hearted videos after matches. Recently, Virat Kohli stole the show in one such reel following the third ODI against South Africa, a clip that instantly went viral thanks to Kohli’s playful dig at the young pacer.

During the Cuttack T20I, Arshdeep found himself in elite company as Bumrah entered the 100 T20I wickets club after removing Dewald Brevis. Speaking to the broadcasters after India’s emphatic win, Arshdeep was asked the question everyone was waiting for—what would it take for Bumrah to feature in his next viral reel?

With his trademark humour, Arshdeep quipped that Bumrah still hadn’t done enough to earn that spot. “Jassi bhai still needs to take some more wickets to feature on my Instagram. If he keeps working on that and keeps taking wickets, he might feature on my Instagram as well,” he laughed. The light-hearted banter perfectly summed up the warm, easygoing chemistry within the team.

Both pacers picked up two wickets each as India thumped South Africa by 101 runs to go 1–0 up in the series. Off the field, Arshdeep spoke with genuine admiration about Bumrah, describing him as a gentle senior who never puts unnecessary pressure on youngsters. Being fellow Punjabis, Arshdeep said their bond has naturally grown stronger.

“The relation with him is very nice. He’s a gentle senior, never harsh on anyone coming in. And since we’re Punjabi as well, it becomes even easier to gel with him,” he explained.

The Bumrah–Arshdeep pairing has quietly become one of India’s most effective pace combinations. In 14 matches together, they have accumulated 47 wickets, a number that highlights how well they complement each other.

Arshdeep acknowledged that he benefits greatly from bowling alongside Bumrah, as batters often take more risks against him knowing Bumrah rarely concedes easy runs. “Players mostly look to attack my bowling, so I’m always in the game to take wickets. Even good balls get hit sometimes because they know Bumrah won’t give anything away,” he said.

India and South Africa will now gear up for the second T20I on December 11, with fans already eager to see whether Bumrah finally earns that long-awaited reel appearance.
