Arshdeep Singh’s performance tied the world record set by Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi for the most wickets in a single edition of the T20 World Cup. Celebrating India’s T20 World Cup victory after a 17-year gap, Arshdeep took to X (formerly Twitter) on July 3 to pay tribute to Indian coach Rahul Dravid.

The young Indian pacer posted a heartfelt message along with a picture featuring both of them, captioning it, “2018–2024: Thank you for everything coach saab.” The image captured Arshdeep holding the U-19 World Cup trophy on the left and the T20 World Cup trophy on the right, symbolizing his journey under Dravid’s mentorship.

Arshdeep’s association with Dravid began in 2018 when he was part of the Indian team that clinched the U-19 World Cup under Dravid’s guidance. Since making his T20I debut for India in July 2022 against England, the 25-year-old left-arm pacer has become an integral part of the T20I squad, amassing 79 wickets in 52 T20Is.

The 2024 T20 World Cup marked the end of Rahul Dravid’s tenure as India’s head coach. Dravid assumed the role in 2021 after the T20 World Cup in the UAE, and during his 31-month stint, he guided the Indian team to significant achievements across all formats. Under his leadership, India attained the No. 1 ranking in Test, ODI, and T20I formats.

Additionally, Dravid led the team to victory in the Asia Cup 2023 and to the finals of both the 2023 World Test Championship and the 2023 ODI World Cup, culminating in the T20 World Cup triumph.
