India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, won the toss and elected to bowl first. Ireland’s openers, Paul Stirling and Andrew Balbirnie, found it difficult to score freely in the initial overs. Arshdeep Singh began with a tight over, conceding just three runs, followed by Mohammed Siraj’s over, which yielded only four runs.

The pressure mounted on the Irish batsmen, and they couldn’t withstand it for long. In the third over, Arshdeep Singh struck twice, putting India firmly in control. He first dismissed Stirling with the first ball of his second over, as the Ireland captain top-edged a delivery, leading to an easy catch by Rishabh Pant.

Arshdeep Singh wasn’t done yet. On the last ball of the same over, he bowled a stunning delivery to castle Balbirnie. The left-arm pacer delivered a length ball on the middle stump, and Balbirnie, attempting to steer it towards deep third man, was beaten by the angle. The ball crashed into the stumps, leaving Ireland reeling.

India, meanwhile, aims to maintain their grip on the match and restrict Ireland to a modest score. A strong bowling performance followed by a solid batting display would allow India to secure an impressive victory, setting a positive tone for the rest of their World Cup campaign.
