Arshdeep Singh, the talented pace bowler from Team India, kicked off his County cricket stint with Kent on a high note. In the match against Surrey, Arshdeep made an impressive impact by claiming his maiden wickets in the tournament. He dismissed Matthew Foakes early on, and later showcased his skills by knocking over the dangerous Jamie Smith.

During the first innings, Arshdeep took two wickets, conceding 43 runs in 14.2 overs. However, it was in the second innings that he produced one of his best performances so far. Facing a daunting target of 501, Jamie Smith displayed a stunning power-hitting display, reaching a century in just 70 deliveries. But Arshdeep, delivering a peach of a delivery from around the wicket, shattered Smith’s stumps, securing a crucial wicket for Kent.

At the end of Day 3, Surrey stood at 263/3, still in a commanding position as they needed 238 more runs to achieve a memorable victory at the St. Lawrence Ground in Canterbury. In the previous days of the game, Kent had been the dominant side, scoring 301 runs in the first innings and restricting Surrey to a mere 145.

In addition to Matthew Foakes, Arshdeep also dismissed Australia’s Daniel Worrall for 12 runs. Showing his all-round abilities, Arshdeep made a contribution with the bat as well. Batting at number 11, he remained unbeaten on 12 off 11 deliveries, smashing two boundaries. Prior to joining Kent, Arshdeep expressed that India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, played a pivotal role in his decision.

Expressing his excitement, Arshdeep stated, “Feeling happy and excited to be here, to be a part of such a great franchise. It is a great county with a rich history, as I have been told by people back home. It feels like home. It is just colder than home.”
