Ashok Dinda Cleared Of A Major Injuries After Being Struck On Forehead

The veteran Bengal fast bowler, Ashok Dinda has been cleared of any serious injury after being at the receiving end when a ball hit hisĀ forehead while attempting to take the catch in a Bengal T20 team practice match in Kolkata. Dinda, who had collapsed on his follow through, has been cleared of anything ā€˜alarmingā€™ following scans.

Birendra Vivek Singhā€™s drilled drive burst through Dindaā€™s hands and struck him flush on the forehead on Monday. When the incident had happened during the practice match on Monday, Dinda lay on the ground before getting up and bowling a few more balls and finally leaving the ground.

According to PTI, Dindaā€™s scans returned clear after he was taken to the hospital. PTI quoted a CAB official as saying, ā€œDinda looked fine as he completed the over before returning to the dressing room. As a precautionary measure, he was taken for scans. There is nothing alarming but he has been advised two days of rest.ā€

Dinda has been in a decent form for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy finishing as the highest wicket-taker for his side with 28 wickets in 8 matches. However, Bengal couldn’t make it to the knockout rounds as Vidarbha clinched the title for a second successive time after beating Saurashtra in the final. His injury could have been a big blow for Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, however, he will be back soon after his injury heals. He has a total of 417 wickets to his name in 115 First-Class matches. He was Bengal’s leading wicket-taker this season for the sixth consecutive time since 2013-14.

Dinda finished as Bengalā€™s highest wicket-taker in the last season of Ranji Trophy. An integral part of Bengalā€™s domestic setup for over a decade, Dinda played 13 ODIs and 9 T20Is for India between 2010 and 2013. Currently,Ā Bengal is placed in Group D in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, begin their campaign against Mizoram in Cuttack on February 21.
