Delhi Capitals pulled off a thrilling three-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in a high-scoring IPL 2026 clash at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Monday. Chasing a daunting target of 211, Delhi Capitals produced a sensational batting performance to finish on 216/7 in just 19 overs, keeping their playoff hopes alive in dramatic fashion. The run chase did not begin smoothly for Delhi as opener KL Rahul was dismissed early for nine runs off eight deliveries despite hitting two boundaries.

Fellow opener Abishek Porel also failed to make an impact, scoring just five runs, while Sahil Parakh departed after a quick 13 off six balls. With Delhi struggling early, captain Axar Patel stepped up with a counter-attacking innings that shifted the momentum completely. The left-hander smashed 56 runs from only 30 deliveries, striking eight boundaries and two sixes while taking on the Punjab bowlers fearlessly.

Although Tristan Stubbs managed only 12 runs from 17 balls, experienced finisher David Miller played a crucial hand in the chase. Miller hammered 51 off just 28 deliveries, including four sixes and three boundaries, keeping Delhi Capitals firmly in control during the middle overs.

Impact substitute Ashutosh Sharma then provided the finishing spark with a blistering 24 off 10 balls. His aggressive cameo featuring two boundaries and two maximums tilted the game decisively towards Delhi. The finishing touches were applied brilliantly by Madhav Tiwari and Auqib Nabi, who remained unbeaten on 18 and 10 respectively to seal the memorable victory.

 

For Punjab Kings, Arshdeep Singh was the standout bowler with figures of 2/21 in four overs. Yash Thakur, Ben Dwarshuis and Marcus Stoinis picked up one wicket each. Earlier in the evening, Punjab Kings posted a strong total of 210/5 after impressive batting performances from their top order. Priyansh Arya continued his excellent IPL 2026 form with a brilliant 56 off 33 balls, smashing six sixes and two boundaries.

Australian all-rounder Cooper Connolly added a valuable 38, while captain Shreyas Iyer anchored the innings superbly with an unbeaten 59 from 36 deliveries.

Late fireworks from Suryansh Shedge, who blasted 21 off just eight balls, helped Punjab cross the 200-run mark. For Delhi Capitals, Madhav Tiwari impressed with figures of 2/40, while Mitchell Starc also claimed two wickets despite conceding runs in an expensive spell.
