With DC in dire straits at 7/3 within the first two overs while chasing 210 in Visakhapatnam, Ashutosh took on the responsibility of anchoring the innings. Displaying nerves of steel, he carried the game deep, ensuring DC remained in the hunt. With six runs required off the final over, he launched left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed straight down the ground for a match-winning six, sealing the victory with three balls to spare.

Reflecting on his approach, Ashutosh Sharma emphasized the importance of preparation. “I love batting, and I practice a lot—especially against spinners. My aim is always to hit cleanly. When you train with the mindset of striking the ball consistently, it becomes muscle memory. That’s how I approach my game,” he said in the JioStar – Delhi Capitals Press Room on Friday.

The young batter also spoke about his interaction with DC mentor Kevin Pietersen, who once donned the Delhi jersey as a player. After his stunning knock, Ashutosh was seen embracing Pietersen, a moment that symbolized the strong mentor-protégé bond.

“It’s a privilege to learn from legends like Kevin. Their experience is invaluable. Whenever they share insights during practice, I listen carefully. They have played at the highest level, so any advice they give is gold. It’s amazing to ask questions and absorb their knowledge,” he added.
