While India’s tour of Australia 2018/19 has just started on Wednesday (November 21) through the T20I, the Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham were involved in the social media banter.

This twitter banter happened between these two international cricketers when the first T20I of the three-match T20I series was running at The Gabba (Brisbane). After winning the toss, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli decided to field first.

When Australia was moving quickly and strongly as they were batting on 153/3 in 16.1 overs, rain interrupted that innings. The match resumed around one hour later with three overs cut of each innings and that means Australia had to play only five more balls in that innings.

During that break due to the rain-interruption, Jimmy Neesham tweeted, “Can someone please explain to me why the #AUSvIND T20 has turned into rugby on @SKYNZ ???”

Soon, Ashwin tweeted, “Cos it’s raining mate.”

Neesham quickly replied, “Raining sixes?”

During the resumption of the game, Ashwin replied Neesham, “.. We will bat soon enough”

Soon, Neesham came with the reply, “Virat is batting second so it’s probably game over anyway.”

Ravichandran Ashwin is the regular Test player at present while James Neesham played his last international game in the last year’s ICC Champions Trophy in England. The 28-year-old Neesham has played 12 Tests, 41 ODIs and 15 T20Is for New Zealand. Meanwhile, the 32-year-old Ashwin has played 64 Tests, 111 ODIs and 46 T20Is for India.

Coming to the game, Australia added five more runs on the scoreboard after the rain-interruption as they managed to score 158/4 at the end of the 17 overs. Australian batsman Glenn Maxwell scored the highest runs in that innings as he scored 46 off 24 balls (4 sixes). Also, Marcus Stoinis played an unbeaten 33-run knock off 19 balls (3 fours and only six) while Chris Lynn scored 37 off 20 balls (only four and four sixes). For India, Kuldeep Yadav was the best bowler with the bowling figure of 4-0-24-2.
