India won the Asia Cup 2018 after a thrilling contest against Bangladesh in the final of the tournament at Dubai International Cricket Stadium (Dubai) on Friday.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma sent Bangladesh to bat first after winning the toss. Bangladesh was bowled out for 222 runs in 48.3 overs. In reply, India chased down the target on the very last ball of the game after losing seven wickets (223/7 in 50 overs).

- The second best opening partnership in the Asia Cup final history. The record is 137 runs opening partnership between the Sri Lankan openers Sanath Jayasuriya and Marvan Atapattu against India at Colombo (RPS) during the 1997 Asia Cup final (on July 26, 1997).
ii) Bangladesh opener Liton Das scored 121 runs.
- First ever Bangladesh batsman to score a century in any final of international cricket history. The previous record was 77 by Sabbir Rahman against India at Colombo (RPS) in the 2018 Nidahas Trophy final (T20 format) on March 18, 2018.
- The second highest knock by an individual batsman in the Asia Cup final history. The record is 125 by former Sri Lankan batsman Sanath Jayasuriya against India at Karachi during the 2008 Asia Cup final (on 6 July 2008).
- The third highest knock that ended in a losing cause in an ODI final history.

- The second best bowling figure in the Asia Cup final history by an Indian spinner. The record is 3.2-0-12-3 by Kris Srikkanth against Sri Lanka at Dhaka in the 1988 Asia Cup final (4 November 1988).

v) Indian cricket team successfully chased down the 223 runs target (223/7) without their any batsman played a 50 or more runs innings.
- Highest ODI chase by the Indian cricket team when none of players scored 50 or more runs in that innings. The previous record was chasing 214 runs (214/8 in 49.5 overs) against New Zealand at Napier on January 12, 1999.
vi) India reached the target on the final ball of the match.
- Only the second time in ODI final history when a chasing team won the game on the very last ball of the match. Previously, Pakistan did this against India at Sharjah during 1986 Austral-Asia Cup Final (on April 18, 1986).
vii) India won the Asia Cup 2018.
- It is India’s seventh overall Asia Cup trophy (including ODI and T20I formats). Most Asia Cup trophy victory by a team as Sri Lanka is in next place with five trophies.
- It is India’s sixth ODI Asia Cup trophy which is the most for any team as Sri Lanka is in the next place with five trophies.
