In recent times, the Australian cricket team has been struggling to make an impact in the international cricket ever since the ill-fated tour of South Africa. Their crucial cogs Steve Smith and David Warner were banned for their involvement in the infamous ball-tampering scandal and the team will be missing their services until March 2019. However, the pace trio of Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Pat Cummins have not played since then due to successive injuries and they are now set to make a comeback.
The pace triplet has been given a deadline to prove their fitness for the tour of the United Arab Emirates later this year where they will face Pakistan. The trio is looking forward to resuming their bowling by the end of this month as Cummins and Hazlewood recover from back injuries while Starc is recovering from his leg problem.

Pat Cummins was the only pacer amongst the trio who played almost every game across the formats for Australia after marking his comeback in the Test series against early last year. Constant cricket led to Cummins’ back getting injured but he is now confident that he will be fit in time for the crucial UAE tour. He also confirmed that his teammates Starc and Hazlewood are also ready and raring to go.
As quoted in cricket.co.au, Cummins said, “I’ve been getting a scan every month to track the progress. It’s probably a little bit slower than we would have liked, but all still pretty much on track. As long as there are no hiccups in the building-up stage … we should all be right for the UAE. We’ve all started running.”
The Test series against Pakistan will be Australia’s first Test assignment after the debacle in the rainbow nation. They have struggled immensely in the ODIs since then and were recently whitewashed by their arch-rivals England.
