In a recent shift in the ICC rankings, Australia has ascended to the coveted position of the No.1 Test team, displacing India. The Pat Cummins-led Australian side secured a dominant 2-0 lead in the three-match Test series against Pakistan, leading to their elevation in the rankings. This accomplishment marks the end of India’s reign as the top-ranked Test team, a position they held across all three formats for four months.
Before the update, both Australia and India shared 118 ratings, with India holding a lead based on points. However, Australia’s consecutive triumphs against Pakistan allowed them to surpass India and claim the No.1 spot.
This development follows India’s historic seven-wicket victory over South Africa in Cape Town, a match that concluded within five sessions. Notably, India and Australia maintain their positions at the summit of the ODI rankings.
